Hercules Performance and Physical Therapy is for athletes and people with active lifestyles who are looking to prevent injuries, rehab from aches and pains, and maintain their movement and health with long-term solutions that don’t require endless doctor visits, medications, or injections. Hercules Performance and Physical Therapy started because we, too, were also over the traditional healthcare system. We set the bar high for including one on one sessions and only the most advanced manual therapy techniques. This will not be your average physical therapy clinic and healthcare experience.

If you choose to move your body, you’re an athlete! At Hercules Performance and Physical Therapy, we treat whatever is holding you back from performing your best - whatever performance looks like to you. Not injured, but looking to optimize your life and be able to tackle any obstacle life throws at you? We’ve got you covered!

We also specialize in injury prevention and fitness. Are you someone who wants to stay moving well and doing things in a way that will not cause stress or injury to your body or someone who wants to lift more and throw harder? That’s awesome! We got you

Owner, Sports Performance Physical Therapist/ Coach, & Dry Needling Specialist

Alec is Doctor of Physical Therapy and owner of Hercules Performance and Physical Therapy. Alec is a functional fitness athlete, dog dad, and someone who has had their fair share of injuries, aches, and pains from 20+ years of baseball and 10+ years of CrossFit Training.

He started his own company because he was tired of his treatment being dictated by the big corporate insurance companies, not by patients’ and athletes’ goals. At Hercules Performance and Physical Therapy, you will spend 100% of your time with Alec in a 60+ minute session utilizing highly refined clinical reasoning supplemented by skilled exercise programming and manual therapy. Alec utilizes an integrated approach with considerations towards your mindset, goals, currently athletic endeavors, and personal needs. He will never tell you that you cannot CrossFit, lift heavy, or play golf but rather will use his unique experiences and strong educational background to get you back to living your life and doing what you love.

Alec’s passion for sports, movement, recovery, and medicine began at an early age while growing up in sunny south Florida. From the moment he could walk, he was swinging a baseball bat. He played middle infield at St. Thomas Aquinas, during which he had an award named after him- “The Alec Spano Hustle Award,” and later went on to become the vice president for the University of Florida’s Club Baseball team. During his time in college, he discovered CrossFit and continues to be a member of the community. He has competed in the CrossFit Games Open and various competitions, and had the opportunity to compete in Quarterfinals and the Occupational Games in 2021. He continues to train in various functional fitness methodologies pursuing lifelong fitness and health. However, along the way, Alec suffered a growth plate fracture in his R shoulder sidelining part of his earlier baseball career. He also later on dealt with a labrum tear in his left hip, which requires constant recovery and mobility drills to keep him on the CrossFit floor.

From recovering from his injuries and learning the mindset needed to overcome adversity, he decided to help others prevent and fix their injuries by pursuing his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Florida in 2020. He has also coached CrossFit in Gainesville and South Florida, high school baseball for Oak Hall High School, and worked with various NFL, NBA, and MLB athletes along the way. He believes the only way to truly understand how to help an athlete or active adult is by BEING ONE.

He has spent 10+ years working in athletics and 4+ years treating in orthopedic physical therapy with an emphasis on sports medicine, athletics, general orthopedics, chronic pain, and post-op patients. His work has always been rewarding but he knows that his athletes need more than average. At Hercules Performance and Physical Therapy, he is able to provide the patient experience he would have wanted in order to get that 1% edge on the field.
